Manila: Public support played a crucial role in the police's anti-drug campaign in Western Visayas, the regional police office said Thursday: Public support has significantly bolstered the anti-drug operations in Western Visayas, as stated by the regional police office.

According to Philippines News Agency, nearly double the number of operations were conducted focusing on curbing the illegal drug supply. Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, the PRO6 regional director, highlighted that information provided by the public has been instrumental in recent successes against drug syndicates. These syndicates are reportedly trying to flood the market to recover past losses.

In collaboration with Bantay Dagat and local fisherfolk, PRO6 has been intercepting drug shipments to prevent their distribution. A notable 24-hour operation on March 10 resulted in the seizure of 2,392 grams of shabu, valued at PHP16.27 million, and the arrest of 25 suspects, including eight high-value individuals.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office achieved the largest haul, confiscating over 2,000 grams of shabu valued at PHP13.67 million in the areas of Balasan and Estancia. Brig. Gen. Wanky assured the public of ongoing efforts to sustain the fight against illegal drugs in the region.
