Pursuit on for killers of Maguindanao Sur head teacher

Police in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, have launched a manhunt against two men who ambushed and killed a school head teacher in Maguindanao Sur while he was driving home Wednesday afternoon. Major Jethro Doligas, Lambayong town police chief, said Hermielex A. Kapusan, head teacher of Tukanakuden Elementary School in Barangay Tukanakuden, Sultan sa Barongis, Maguindanao del Sur, was gunned down by two unidentified gunmen at 5:20 p.m. along the national highway in Barangay Tinumigues, Lambayong. 'The motive of the attack remained unknown as of posting,' Doligas said in a radio interview on Thursday. 'But we are pursuing a lead that would hopefully result in the arrest of the perpetrators.' Kapusan was heading home on a motorbike when flagged down and shot by two men along the isolated stretch of the Sultan sa Barongis-Lambayong highway. Responding militiamen rushed Kapusan to the hospital where he was pronounced upon arrival. Doligas said they are also trying to determine if the incident is work-related.
