Hospital PUSRAWI Sdn Bhd (PUSRAWI) continues to take steps forward in the field of heart treatment, with the launch of a brand new cardiac catheterisation laboratory (Cath Lab), equipped with high-tech medical equipment, namely the Philips Azurion 5 C2 Angiography machine.

Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) chairman, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, said that the steps taken by PUSRAWI will provide more flexibility to carry out procedures in the easiest and most effective way when treating patients.

“In line with the almost 40 years of its establishment, the position of this Syariah-compliant hospital is on a par with other private hospitals, in ensuring that the services offered always remain relevant and the best for its patients,” he said when officiating the Cath Lab.

Meanwhile, PUSRAWI Hospital chairman, Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, said that the Philips Azurion 5 C2 Angiography machine, worth RM4.9 million, is the first to be used in the country.

He said that the idea to use the latest angiogram system came about due to an increased in heart-related cases at PUSRAWI, which prompted the board of directors to approve a budget of RM27 million, to provide the medical technology and equipment.

“It is a world-class service, on a par with other heart centres abroad. It is hoped that, with the availability of this latest treatment, patients with heart-related problems will be able to undergo the best treatment at an affordable cost,” he said, at a press conference after the launch.

At the event, PUSRAWI’s management also signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the Libyan Embassy's Academic Affairs Office, represented by Attaché, Dr Aiman A K Elmahmodi.

The MoA aims to provide health treatment services to all staff of the Libyan embassy in Malaysia, as well as 12,000 students from that country currently studying here.
