Quezon city: Families displaced by the massive fire along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan on March 6 will soon have their permanent homes, through a joint project by the Quezon City government and national government agencies that will build multi-story residential units in the city.

According to Philippines News Agency, QC Mayor Joy Belmonte assured residents that the project, which would be part of the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program (4PH), would prioritize displaced fire victims. She mentioned that the city government is working with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and the National Housing Authority, to provide these residents with permanent, dignified housing within the city.

Mayor Belmonte emphasized, "We are working closely with DHSUD to develop an in-city vertical housing project. We want to assure affected families that they will be prioritized and will benefit from the housing we are planning to build."

She also stated, "This project will ensure that families affected by the fire can return to a safe, secure, and dignified home in our city."

Construction is expected to begin soon, with the first housing units targeted for completion by the end of 2027. During a joint site inspection last Monday, Belmonte met with DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and NHA General Manager Joeben Tai to finalize the number of buildings and floors for the in-city resettlement plan.

The city's Housing Community Development and Resettlement Department reported that the affected area has 847 structures housing 2,232 informal settler families. Meanwhile, the city government will provide rental subsidies to help affected families secure temporary shelter while the vertical housing project is being developed. Currently, the city has opened seven evacuation centers near the affected site.
