Rail and Transport Lead PHP3.16 Trillion PPP Project Pipeline

Manila: The Philippines currently has 252 projects worth PHP3.16 trillion in the pipeline to be undertaken by the government and the private sector.

According to Philippines News Agency, data from the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center revealed that as of Monday, 168 projects worth PHP3.02 trillion will be implemented by the national government, while 84 projects worth PHP136.26 billion are set to be executed by local government units.

Railway projects dominate the pipeline, accounting for the largest portion with a total value of PHP1.97 trillion. This is followed by land transport projects worth PHP274.06 billion and property development initiatives valued at PHP221.46 billion. PPP data indicated that the Department of Transportation will oversee the implementation of the majority of these projects, with a total worth of PHP2.02 trillion, while the Philippine National Railways is responsible for projects worth PHP1.22 trillion.

The majority of these infrastructure projects will be located in key regions such as the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, and the Ilocos Region, suggesting a strategic focus on enhancing connectivity and development in these areas.
