Rains Forecast Across Philippines on Monday

Manila: Most parts of the country will experience rains on Monday, the weather bureau said.

According to Philippines News Agency, a low pressure area (LPA) will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms across Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The LPA, located 260 km west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, as of 3 a.m., has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours. Additionally, the shearline and the easterlies will bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, and Quezon.

Moderate to heavy rains in the aforementioned areas could result in flash floods or landslides, PAGASA warned. The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the easterlies.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters will prevail across Northern Luzon. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA noted.
