Release of Pensions for Indigent Seniors in Butuan City Starts

Butuan city: The release of the social pension of indigent senior citizens has commenced in Butuan City, the City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD) reported Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the payout activities started on Monday and will run until Friday to cover all barangays in Butuan City, as stated by Cristine Sabandal, the focal person for senior citizens of CSWDD, in an interview.

She added that the social pension will cover the first quarter of 2026, with 18,124 indigent senior citizens expected to receive PHP3,000 each as stipends during the series of payout activities.

In a statement on Tuesday, the CSWDD emphasized the importance of government support for indigent senior citizens, especially those with no regular income. The CSWDD noted, "The stipend is a big help to the food, medicines, and other daily needs of our indigent senior citizens in the city."

It also recognized the continued support of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for indigent senior citizens and barangay officials in facilitating swift payouts.
