Baguio: The Diocese of Baguio has informed priests and the laity about a series of thefts for the past two months in four parishes under its jurisdiction, where religious items, including liturgical vessels, were stolen. In a social media post, the Diocese's Social Communications reported incidents of theft were recorded in the past two months.

According to Philippines News Agency, from January to February 2026, several items were stolen from churches. The Conversion of St. Paul in Tuba reported missing a candle stand, censer, and boat, along with various altar server items. The Immaculate Conception in Sablan had a censer and boat stolen. Our Lady of Fatima in Tuding reported the theft of a chalice, censer, and incense boat. The Don Bosco church reported the loss of an ordination chalice.

The Diocese urged the churches to review their security protocols and ensure that church items are properly secured when not in use. They advised all parish priests and staff of the series of targeted thefts occurring within neighboring parishes over the last two months.

The Diocese also requested that if anyone is offered liturgical items for sale from unofficial sources or has any information regarding the missing items, they should contact the Curia Information Office or the concerned parishes mentioned above.
