Manila: The camp of Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Wednesday stated that it has yet to receive any official complaint from the Office of the Ombudsman, as it firmly denied allegations of wrongdoing.
According to Philippines News Agency, lawyer-spokesperson Atty. Ade Fajardo mentioned that they 'have not received any official copy of the alleged complaint from the Office of the Ombudsman.' He emphasized that the former Speaker 'categorically and unequivocally' rejected the accusations, asserting that Romualdez 'has acted at all times within the bounds of law.'
The spokesperson highlighted the necessity of following the appropriate procedure. 'We expect due process to be observed. Once formally furnished, we will respond fully before the proper forum,' Fajardo stated.
Romualdez's camp expressed its preparedness to address the allegations once an official notice is received. Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla had earlier indicated that there is an ongoing investigation into money laundering against Romualdez and that a freeze order on his assets is being sought.
