Manila: House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Wednesday welcomed the results of the OCTA Research's "Tugon ng Masa" second-quarter 2025 survey showing an increase in his trust and performance ratings, saying these reflect growing public support for the reform initiatives of the House of Representatives.
According to Philippines News Agency, Romualdez expressed his gratitude and responsibility towards the results, highlighting that the increase in his ratings is an encouraging sign of public support for reforms in transparency, budget integrity, and service delivery. He emphasized that these improvements are widespread across all major regions and socioeconomic groups, indicating that people are seeking honest leadership and tangible results.
The survey results also highlighted that both House Speaker Romualdez and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. were the only government officials to post gains in both trust and performance ratings in OCTA's second-quarter survey. Conducted from July 12 to 17, the poll showed the President's trust level rose by four percentage points to 64 percent, while his performance rating increased by three percentage points to 62 percent.
Romualdez's ratings reflected a similar upward trend, with his trust level increasing by three percentage points to 57 percent nationwide, while his performance rating climbed by four points to 59 percent. The Speaker committed to continuing his work quietly and decisively, focusing on efficient public fund usage, corruption-free infrastructure projects, and ensuring basic services reach those in need.
According to OCTA, the Speaker's rating improvements are significant as they were broad-based, with gains recorded across all major regions and socioeconomic classes. The survey indicated that Romualdez's trust levels were at 59 percent in Metro Manila, 62 percent in balance Luzon, 66 percent in Visayas, and 36 percent in Mindanao. Demographically, he was trusted by 49 percent in the ABC group, 57 percent in D, and 61 percent in E.
In terms of performance, Romualdez recorded 59 percent in Metro Manila, 64 percent in balance Luzon, 64 percent in Visayas, and 43 percent in Mindanao. His performance rating was 51 percent among those in the ABC group, 59 percent in D, and 63 percent in the E class.
