Catbalogan City: Two criminology students from Samar College, Inc., in Catbalogan City are the first beneficiaries of the scholarship program of the Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO).

According to Philippines News Agency, the scholarship program, dubbed project 'LOVE' (Law Enforcement Officers Volunteers for Education), was launched by the SPPO to provide educational assistance to aspiring police officers. This initiative also aims to strengthen the organization's commitment to community development and youth empowerment.

The initial beneficiaries of this program are Jester Nacional from Dolores village in San Sebastian, Samar, and Kyre Zadrix Doinog from Basud village in Calbayog City, Samar. Both are criminology students at Samar College. The selection of beneficiaries is based on their academic performance and the economic status of their families.

SPPO provincial director Col. Antonietto Eric Mendoza highlighted in a statement the importance of education and community collaboration in shaping the next generation of law enforcement officers. The SPPO and Samar College formalized the implementation of the program by signing a memorandum of understanding on February 21.
