San Beda Clinches NCAA Season 101 Men’s Basketball Championship

Quezon city: San Beda University wrapped up the NCAA Season 101 men's basketball championship after defeating Letran, 83-71, in Game 2 at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Saturday. It was San Beda's 24th NCAA title overall.

According to Philippines News Agency, Bryan Sajonia, who delivered 21 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal, was named Finals Most Valuable Player. "It's great to be a Bedista!" Sajonia said. "I thank the Lord that we got the win, but this is for everyone. This is for all the Bedistas who supported me. It's so good, my dream is to be a champion and now, I got it."

Sajonia also powered San Beda to victory in Wednesday's opener, 89-70, with 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists. The Red Lions were leading by 14 points before Deo Cuajao sank a triple to put the Knights within 69-73, 2:51 left in the fourth quarter. Sajonia's three-pointer kept San Beda at bay, 76-69, 1:57 remaining.

Yukien Andrada contributed 21 points while Nygel Gonzales had 19 points for the Red Lions. Jonathan Manalili finished with 15 points, seven assists, and six rebounds while Kevin Santos and Jun Roque chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively for the Knights, who dominated the first two quarters.
