Pampanga: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this capital town kicked off its satellite voter registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Wednesday. The registration process, which began at the Robinsons Place, is set to continue until January 29 before moving to the municipality's 28 barangays.
According to Philippines News Agency, San Jose de Buenavista Municipal Election Officer III Johnna Catilo stated in an interview that the initiative aims to reach as many voters as possible to ensure their participation in the BSKE 2026. Catilo mentioned that their first three clients included two new voters for the SK election and one individual seeking reactivation.
The voter seeking reactivation had missed participating in the last two elections, highlighting the importance of the satellite registration initiative. Rhes Lhey Gahap, one of the new registrants, expressed his intention to run as an SK councilor in November, taking advantage of the registration opportunity to contribute to the improvement of his barangay.
The local Comelec office plans to collaborate with barangay captains to spread information about the satellite registration to their communities. Catilo emphasized their willingness to conduct registration on weekends or holidays, provided barangay captains can assist in gathering interested registrants.
