Scheduled 12-Hour Power Interruption to Impact Parts of Albay

Albay: The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has announced a 12-hour power outage on Thursday, July 2, affecting multiple towns and cities within Albay.

According to Philippines News Agency, the NGCP has detailed that the outage will impact the Washington and Bitano substations between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m., and the Salvacion and Sta. Misericordia feeders 1 and 2 substations from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. These areas are serviced by the Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco).

The power interruption at Washington and Bitano substations is intended to facilitate a load transfer, while the extended outage at Salvacion and Sta. Misericordia Feeders 1 and 2 is planned for preventive and corrective maintenance of high-voltage equipment at the Daraga and Sto. Domingo substations.

Anj Galero, Aleco's public information officer, stated in a phone interview that the affected regions include Albay's first and second districts. The brief 30-minute outage in Washington and Bitano substation areas will affect parts of Camalig, Daraga, and Legazpi City. Meanwhile, the 12-hour outage for Salvacion and Sta. Misericordia Feeders 1 and 2 will impact villages in the island town of Rapu-Rapu, the mainland town of Sto. Domingo, and portions of Bacacay, Malilipot, and Tabaco City.

Galero mentioned that Aleco plans to conduct additional activities concurrently with the NGCP outage. She advised residents to "consider our distribution lines always energized" during this period.
