Iloilo city: Security measures for the "Paskuhan 2025" are already in place to ensure the safe and orderly celebration of the holiday season in Western Visayas. Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) director Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan said they are intensifying security measures across the region. "We will increase our police presence in key locations, and assistance hubs will be established in strategic places to provide prompt support," he said in a message to reporters on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-6 will also reinforce anti-criminality activities and public awareness campaigns to remind the communities to stay vigilant against theft and illegal firecrackers throughout the holiday season. Regular police units will be supported by regional specialized units, including the Explosives and Ordnance Disposal and K-9 Unit, the Regional Maritime Unit, the Traffic Management Unit, and the tourist police.

In Iloilo City, Col. Kim Legada, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), directed staff, unit, and station commanders to review and assess security protocols. He ordered police station commanders to evaluate personnel deployment at police assistance hubs, places of worship, shopping centers, road safety checkpoints, seaports, public transport terminals, and other key areas throughout the city.

He also ordered the assessment of night-shift personnel deployment to ensure heightened police visibility, especially as churches prepare for Simbang Gabi 2025, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and the upcoming Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2026. "While these measures are implemented yearly, re-evaluating our security preparations ensures a safer community for all. Under our watch, we will not give any chance to those who wish to disrupt the peace. As we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us stay vigilant and responsible amid the holiday rush," Legada said in a statement.
