In conjunction with the National Month celebration, the Information Department (Japen) will acknowledge the people, communities, and organisations' efforts in decorating homes, buildings, and prominent areas with the Jalur Gemilang.
Melaka Japen director, Shahrom Ravin Daram Abdullah said the Anugerah Semarak Gemilang Award will be presented to the winner who showcases the best decorations in line with the Jalur Gemilang theme. The award comprises a cash prize of RM3,000, a plaque, and a certificate of appreciation.
He said the evaluation will focus on three main areas: creativity with unique flag designs, including state flags; making landmarks; neat flag arrangements; and highlighting a joyful and vibrant atmosphere during the National Month celebration.
“The second criterion includes elements of interest that emphasise uniqueness, such as crafting flags with flora, utilising cost-effective or recycled materials, and presenting the National Month celebration through showcasing the largest, longest, and most abundant flags, among other things.
“The third aspect involves adding value by interpreting the 2023 National Day and Malaysia Day themes through the creation of logos, slogans, or patriotic words in forms such as banners, displays and the like, or significant designs in line with the theme. This includes flag decorations on vehicles like cars, motorcycles, and trishaws," he said to Bernama today.
According to Shahrom, the Semarak Gemilang Award is not a competition but a form of recognition. It is Japen's effort in each state to acknowledge and honour Malaysian citizens, whether individuals, communities, or organisations, who exhibit a high patriotic spirit in collectively enhancing the celebration of the 2023 National Day and Malaysia Day.
The participation deadline is on or before Aug 24, 2023 (Thursday) at 3 pm.
