Pasay city: Senate employees returned to work on Monday after a security alert prompted a temporary work-from-home arrangement last week. Senator Erwin Tulfo announced that employees and staff have been allowed to return to the Senate building in Pasay City following an assessment by security officials that indicated the threat level had decreased.
According to Philippines News Agency, Senator Tulfo explained in a DZRH interview that Senate President Pro Tempore Sherwin Gatchalian had previously permitted employees to work from home as a precautionary measure while authorities investigated the reported threat. The Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, led by Alfredo Corpuz, assured that adequate security measures are now in place.
Senator Tulfo also mentioned that the Senate has received additional support from the Philippine National Police (PNP), enhancing the security protocols already established. "So we're confident that our employees and Senate staff can return," he stated.
The alert originated from intelligence information provided by the National Bureau of Investigation, which is actively coordinating with the PNP to validate and monitor the situation. As the Senate session remains adjourned, employees are required to report to work from Monday to Thursday.
