The 2023 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) convoy kicked off its Kedah journey from the Kuala Muda district, namely in Pasar Bisik, Kota Kuala Muda near here this evening and will cover seven locations in the state.
Kedah assistant director of Information Aidatul Shima Che Hassan said that after the Kuala Muda district, the convoy would move to Pendang, Kota Setar, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap and Sik before ending in Baling on Friday (July 21).
“Penang Information director Sabri Said handed over the Jalur Gemilang to us and this convoy will involve seven locations in the seven districts in Kedah,” she told reporters after Jalur Gemilang handing over ceremony near here today.
The 2023 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Penang convoy travelled by sea on fishing boats from Penaga and arrived at Pasar Bisik at about 5.30 pm.
A total of 70 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang participants, involving about 38 vehicles of various types in Kedah, also welcomed the arrival of the convoy from Penang.
The convoy was also joined by vehicles from the Kedah Information Department, Kedah Broadcasting Department, Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Royal Malaysia Police and the K16 Motoring Club.
Aidatul Shima said that between 200 and 500 Jalur Gemilang would be distributed according to locations and hoped that such programmes would fuel the spirit of patriotism among the people in Kedah.
