Manila: A total of 14,053 residents in Tagum City and New Corella, Davao del Norte, will receive PHP71.9 million in cash assistance via the DSWD-11 Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program from May 4 to 9.
According to Philippines News Agency, DSWD-11 reported that 6,391 beneficiaries in New Corella and 7,662 beneficiaries in Tagum City will receive PHP5,122 each.
The ECT program provides immediate, unconditional cash aid to families affected by disasters or emergencies, bridging the gap between initial relief and early recovery. The agency indicated that the assistance aims to help beneficiaries purchase essential items such as medicines, healthcare supplies, and nutritious food.
"The aid is given to families of farmers and other workers affected by the flooding caused by the shear line in February this year," DSWD-11 stated. The program is designed to support those most adversely affected by natural calamities, ensuring timely assistance for recovery and sustenance.
Beneficiaries underwent a rigorous validation process conducted in coordination with the local government unit (LGU) to ensure that the assistance reaches those most in need. DSWD-11 said about 16,456 beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the program, with payout activities scheduled until May 16, 2026.
