San fernando city: SM Supermalls is offering over 500 job vacancies for La Union residents in a job fair on August 27 to 28 at the Union Christian College Gym in the capital San Fernando City, ahead of the opening of its newest mall in the province this year.

According to Philippines News Agency, Geraldine Salazar-Lucero, SM City La Union public relations manager, stated in a phone interview on Tuesday that there are 454 job vacancies for SM retail alone and 96 job positions available for its mall tenants. The available positions include managerial roles as well as positions like sales clerk, cashier, bagger, customer assistant, customer service assistant, tech, counter assistant, inventory staff, pharmacy assistant, sales associate, sales dispatching assistant, and food servers.

"This hiring event is in line with the highly anticipated opening of SM City La Union, giving hopeful applicants a head start in securing a role with the country's top retail brands, bringing in retail excitement and also bringing in career opportunities for the local workforce," Lucero said. Applicants are advised to bring copies of their updated resumes, valid identification cards, and pens for onsite forms and interviews. SM City La Union, set to open on October 17, will be the mall giant's 89th mall and the first in the province. With a gross floor area of more than 112,000 square meters, it is poised to become the largest shopping mall in La Union and the second-largest SM mall in the Ilocos Region.
