Albay: The Social Security System (SSS) conducted its eighth Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) activity in the town of Albay on Thursday. This initiative has resulted in total collections of PHP603,598 from seven operations conducted between January and July.
According to Philippines News Agency, the RACE campaign is designed to prompt delinquent employers to adhere to SSS regulations regarding employer registration, worker coverage, and contribution remittance. The campaign's efforts from January to July have engaged 95 employers and 505 employees through its seven operations.
SSS Branch Head II Jogar Tosoc emphasized the campaign's effectiveness, noting its dual purpose of not only collecting overdue contributions but also raising awareness about employer responsibilities under the SSS law. Tosoc highlighted that the campaign serves as a reminder to employers, leveraging media coverage to inform others about the importance of compliance.
During the eighth RACE activity, SSS Acting Account Management System Head Rizalina Carretas reported that 15 employers, covering 64 employees, were visited. Among these, eight employers were flagged for non-remittance of contributions affecting 35 employees, while seven were identified for issues related to non-registration and non-reporting concerning 29 employees.
Carretas expressed hopes that the initiative would enhance employer understanding and compliance with SSS regulations, encouraging unregistered employers to ensure their employees receive entitled benefits and avoid potential penalties.
An anonymous employer who participated in the activity acknowledged the significance of compliance in securing employees' access to government benefits, particularly upon retirement. Another employer echoed this sentiment, pointing out the mutual benefits of compliance for both employees and businesses.
Tosoc reaffirmed the SSS's commitment to continuously remind employers of their obligations, aiming to ensure that workers receive their rightful social security benefits.
