SSS Calls on Zamboanga Peninsula Partners to Expand Social Security Coverage

Zamboanga: The Social Security System (SSS) Mindanao West Division is urging local government units, private organizations, cooperatives, civic groups, and other institutions in the Zamboanga Peninsula to join forces with the pension fund through its Contribution Subsidy Provider Program (CSPP).

According to Philippines News Agency, Marnelli Pastorfide, the officer in charge of the SSS Mindanao West Division, stated that the CSPP aims to establish "win-win partnerships" by supporting both contribution subsidy providers and beneficiaries, thereby uplifting workers facing disadvantages.

Pastorfide emphasized that the Contribution Subsidy Providers (CSPs) are responsible for covering SSS contributions for self-employed and informal sector workers, such as farmers, fisherfolk, and small vendors, who may find it challenging to make regular payments due to financial limitations.

The initiative would enable selected recipients to access crucial SSS benefits, including those related to sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, and death, Pastorfide noted.

Furthermore, she highlighted that the program offers CSPs an opportunity to enhance their corporate social responsibility efforts while actively promoting inclusive growth and regional development.

The CSPs have the flexibility to determine the scope and nature of their support based on available financial resources. They can select a specific sector, decide the number of workers, set the subsidy amount, and choose to cover contributions for a minimum of six months.

Pastorfide encouraged interested organizations in the Zamboanga Peninsula to get in touch with the SSS Mindanao West Division for more information.
