Mandaluyong city: The Social Security System (SSS) brought essential social security services closer to members of the transport sector and the commuting public through its TranSSSpo Caravan on Wednesday. The caravan, held in Barangka Drive in Mandaluyong City, served as the official kickoff for the simultaneous conduct of the TranSSSpo across the National Capital Region (NCR).

According to Philippines News Agency, the SSS-NCR Operations Group organized the coordinated NCR-wide initiative, which aims to expand social security coverage and bring SSS programs and services closer to workers in the transport sector. The TranSSSpo Caravan, to be conducted in 49 venues across NCR, will provide on-site assistance on membership registration, contribution-related concerns, benefit inquiries, online services, and other SSS programs and services.

Among the services available during the caravan are membership registration, coverage verification, contribution assistance, benefit information, loan applications, and payment assistance. It primarily seeks to reach drivers, operators, transport workers, and their families, particularly those who may have limited opportunity to visit an SSS branch.

"Through the simultaneous conduct of the caravan across NCR, the SSS aims to broaden its reach, strengthen awareness of social security protection, encourage active membership and regular contribution, and ensure more accessible and responsive delivery of services to the transport sector," the SSS stated. The agency is ramping up efforts to bring services closer to the public.

In May, it also deployed mobile e-Wheels to public markets and barangays across selected towns and cities nationwide as part of the Palengke Caravan, aimed at reducing travel time, long queues, and transaction difficulties experienced by workers, pensioners, and beneficiaries. The caravan supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to bring public services faster and closer to the people, particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.

'For many pensioners, informal workers, and members in underserved communities, even a single branch visit can mean transportation expenses, lost income, and hours spent in line,' SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph De Claro earlier said.
