Legazpi: The Social Security System (SSS) Legazpi branch is aiming to collect over PHP342,000 in unpaid contributions from eight delinquent employers as part of its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign conducted on Friday. The initiative seeks to secure the rights and benefits of employees who are currently unable to access the privileges provided by the state insurer.
According to Philippines News Agency, SSS Legazpi branch head Jogar Tosoc emphasized the importance of the campaign by stating that it serves as a reminder for both employers and employees to ensure compliance with contribution obligations. Tosoc noted that the collected amount would benefit 45 employees, highlighting the impact of delinquent contributions on workers' security during times of need.
Show cause orders will be issued to the eight employers involved in sectors such as retail, tire supply, beauty parlors, personal grooming services, manufacturing, and restaurants. The employers have been given a 15-day deadline to comply with the requirements, addressing violations that include non-registration and non-remittance of contributions.
In an overview of compliance among employers, Tosoc pointed out that 25 employers were fully compliant, 18 were partially compliant, 17 had installment plans, 12 were registered, one is facing a case, five received billing letters, one complied with record-keeping, and eight are pending compliance.
An employee, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed hope for receiving her SSS pension benefits, emphasizing its importance as an essential safety net for her family during emergencies. She also conveyed appreciation for the SSS's RACE initiative, which she believes reinforces employer accountability and safeguards employee welfare.
