Baguio city: The Social Security System (SSS) North Luzon 1 has announced a significant change in the annual confirmation process for pensioners, known as the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP). Pensioners can now complete this requirement online, eliminating the need for physical visits to SSS offices.
According to Philippines News Agency, this initiative is expected to simplify the process for pensioners, especially those residing abroad. Christian Andrew Rillorta, the regional communications officer of SSS-NL1 division, highlighted that the system is designed to relieve pensioners from the necessity of visiting SSS offices and waiting in queues. The SSS has collaborated with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to utilize the national identification system for this purpose.
The online ACOP service requires pensioners to be registered with the national ID system. However, they do not need to log into My.SSS to access this service. Instead, pensioners can visit the SSS website and use a dedicated ACOP icon. This feature guides them through a facial scan and biometric verification process using any camera-enabled device via the PSA's National ID eVerify system.
Rillorta reassured that the registration process with the national ID is straightforward, and there is no requirement to present either the e-copy or the physical ID issued by PSA. For those not registered with PSA, traditional ACOP methods, such as in-person visits or through scheduled video appointments, remain accessible.
The online system is designed for convenience, allowing pensioners to complete their confirmations from home at any time. The verification process is swift, taking less than a minute, and it automatically updates SSS records. This system ensures that a live person is present, reducing the risk of fraud and guaranteeing the continuous release of pensions.
This development is part of SSS's ongoing efforts to ease the process for pensioners, particularly those who are elderly or face transportation challenges due to living outside major urban areas.
