Negros occidental: Three state universities in Negros Occidental have announced a shift to a four-day workweek starting this week, aligning with the national government's energy conservation measures.

According to Philippines News Agency, Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU), Central Philippines State University (CPSU), and State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) have each issued notices regarding their work schedule adjustments. These changes comply with Memorandum Circular No. 114 issued by the Office of the President.

CHMSU, located in Talisay City, will implement a temporary four-day workweek starting March 10, with compressed 10-hour shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. This schedule applies across all campuses and will continue until lifted by the President. To facilitate the transition, employees will work from home on March 13. Staff and faculty will report on-campus Monday through Thursday, while Friday classes will shift to online delivery formats.

CPSU in Kabankalan City has adjusted its office schedule to a compressed four-day workweek for specific offices, with office hours from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday. Offices will remain closed on Fridays. The CPSU administration noted that this adjustment aims to support energy conservation and operational efficiency while maintaining service delivery to students and stakeholders.

In Sagay City, SUNN has adopted a temporary four-day work arrangement for administrative and support personnel, effective Monday. Onsite workdays are scheduled from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays designated for work-from-home or other flexible arrangements as authorized by the university. SUNN is also introducing energy conservation measures to reduce electricity and fuel consumption while ensuring the continued delivery of essential services.
