Manila: Tozer Michael Storm booked a ticket in the boys' U12 third round after beating Alexander Marley Sodsod, 6-4, 6-1, Thursday in the Philta National Age Group Championships at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Malate, Manila. Storm will face No. 6 Rafael Benigno Cablitas, a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Novak Peraja.
According to Philippines News Agency, John Aron Emana eliminated No. 8 Matias Aguilera, 6-4, 4-6 (10-3), and Lewis Andrius Santiago pulled off a 7-6, 6-0 upset win over No. 15 Francis Gabriel Abacan. Emana will be up against top seed Carlos Acaso, who trounced Matteo Jenrix Alcantara, 6-1, 6-1, while Santiago will square off with third seed Joaquin Dacyon, who walked over Jeffrey Tsoi.
Other winners were No. 2 Francis Jayvee Dimzon over Yosef Keith Ringor, 6-1, 6-1; No. 5 Noel Andre Zachary Zoleta over Cloud Marion Julianda, 6-2, 6-0; No. 7 Maximus Alexander Calingasan over Johan Marcus Santos, 6-0, 6-0; and No. 9 Jacob Adam Dizon over Riley Jibrail Dimaampao, 6-0, 6-0.
In the boys' U18 division, No. 1 Frank Nhiel Dilao drubbed John Michael Rellona, 6-2, 6-1, while Prince Jake Unahan stunned No. 15 Kristian Novak Brazal, 6-4, 6-0, to forge a second-round showdown in the Grand Slam-category event supported by Tecnifibre and Philippine Sports Commission.
In other results, No. 9 Cris Lance Iglupas won over Godwin Kaido Jumarang, 6-1 ret.; No. 12 Nathan Leonard Cansana conquered Gabriel Victor Torres, 2-6, 6-1 (10-7); and No. 16 Bryll John Laceda outclassed Enzo Rafael Dimaano, 6-0, 6-2.
In the girls' U12 division, No. 1 Kyla Caguioa whipped Abrielle Asistion, 6-3, 6-2 to advance in the second round against Arielle Opoc, a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Maria Helena Ruiz.
