Albay: A total of 555 learner-athletes and coaches in Albay have received cash incentives from the provincial government following their participation in recent sports competitions at the regional and national levels. In a media release from the Albay Provincial Information Office, Albay Governor Baby Glenda Ong Bongao expressed her gratitude and acknowledged the honor and pride the athletes have brought to the province.
According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Bongao congratulated all Albayano players for their hard work and dedication, highlighting the significant effort from everyone involved in their success. Gold medalists at the Palarong Bicol 2025 were awarded PHP5,000, silver medalists received PHP3,000, and bronze medalists got PHP2,000.
Meanwhile, 14 student-athletes and their coaches were granted PHP15,000 for each gold medal, PHP10,000 for each silver medal, and PHP5,000 for each bronze medal earned at the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
In a recorded interview, Mark Philip Bayrate, a bronze medalist from the Palarong Bicol 2025, expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for the financial assistance. He cited plans to use the incentives to purchase new school uniforms for the upcoming academic year. "It's a big help for me since I can buy new uniforms with the incentives. Thank you to the provincial government of Albay," he added.
