Surigao Norte Shooting Highlights Quick Police Response

Manila: Authorities in Pilar, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte demonstrated a quick five-minute response to a fatal shooting incident in Barangay Mabini late Sunday afternoon, a police official said Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, 'This swift five-minute response demonstrates our readiness to protect the lives of our citizens,' stated Colonel Warren Dablo, director of the Surigao del Norte Provincial Police Office. Dablo credited the rapid action to 'strategic deployment of patrol units in key barangays, enhanced coordination with community informants, and real-time monitoring of incidents.'

The shooting, reported shortly after 5 p.m. by concerned citizens, prompted immediate action from local police, who arrived at the scene within five minutes. Responding officers initiated an investigation and swiftly launched a pursuit operation, resulting in the arrest of a 38-year-old male security guard. A .38-caliber revolver was recovered during his apprehension.

Initial findings indicate the victim had been drinking with relatives when the suspect allegedly appeared and shot him in the neck, killing him on the spot.
