Manila: Police arrested one of four suspects in last year's murder of a Bulacan Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president and his driver during an operation in Navotas City on Wednesday. In a statement, the Police Regional Office-3 (PRO-3) said the suspect, identified only as alias Lupin, 35, was arrested in Barangay Tangos South after more than two months of surveillance, a police report said.
According to Philippines News Agency, the victims, ABC president Ramil Capistrano and driver Shedrick S. Toribio, were killed on Oct. 3, 2024, in Barangay Ligas, Malolos City. PRO-3 said the Tracker Team of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office led the operation, in coordination with the Bulacan 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Navotas City Police Station.
The arrest was made under a warrant for two counts of murder under Criminal Case Nos. 988-M-2025 and 989-M-2025, issued Feb. 20, 2025, by Judge Felizardo Soriano Montero Jr. of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 11, in Malolos City. No bail was recommended.
Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Pe±ones Jr., PRO-3 director, said the arrest "demonstrates the relentless pursuit of justice by our operatives and the effectiveness of our intelligence-led operations."
