Pasay city: Taiwanese businesses are poised to become key partners in the upcoming artificial intelligence (AI) industrial hub within the Luzon Economic Corridor as part of the United States-led Pax Silica initiative, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) announced.

According to Philippines News Agency, TAITRA chairman James Huang highlighted Taiwan's readiness to collaborate, emphasizing the country's comprehensive and advanced AI supply chain ecosystem. Speaking at the Taiwan Expo 2026 in Pasay City, Huang expressed Taiwan's eagerness to support global AI initiatives and specifically to work with the Philippines in developing the AI hub.

TAITRA, a Taiwanese trade promotions organization, is responsible for enhancing the competitiveness of Taiwan businesses and manufacturers internationally. The agency's current visit to the Philippines aims to spearhead the Taiwan Expo 2026, featuring 125 Taiwanese firms across AI, healthcare, agriculture, and technology sectors.

The Philippines joined the Pax Silica coalition in April as the 13th member, with the coalition now comprising over 30 countries. The Pax Silica initiative is anticipated to attract investments ranging from USD40 billion to USD70 billion upon full development. This initiative is expected to provide opportunities for Filipino professionals, including engineers and researchers, to advance their careers locally.

The proposed Pax Silica development at New Clark City is projected to generate up to 190,000 high-quality jobs for Filipinos, reinforcing the country's position in the global AI value chain.
