Tambalque and Anciano Triumph at JPGT Caliraya Golf Championships

Cavinti: Patrick Tambalque and Rafa Anciano emerged victorious at the ICTSI Junior Philippine Golf Tour (JPGT) Championships held at Caliraya Springs Golf Club. Tambalque clinched the boys' 15-18 title with a final-round score of 78, finishing with a total of 208 points. Despite struggling on the front nine, Tambalque maintained his composure to secure the win over Zachary Villaroman, who initially trailed him by six strokes after 36 holes.

According to Philippines News Agency, Kristoffer Nadales delivered a bogey-free 66 to end up in second place with a 217 total. Villaroman and John Paul Agustin Jr. followed with scores of 75-219 and 75-224, respectively. In the girls' division, Rafa Anciano overcame a four-shot deficit at the beginning of the final round to claim victory. She scored a 74 for a 54-hole total of 241. Levonne Talion, the Eagle Ridge leg champion, finished second with a 78 for a 244 total, while Chloe Rada and Tiffany Bernardino completed the top four with scores of 86-249 and 83-252, respectively.

Tambalque expressed satisfaction with his performance, acknowledging the challenge he faced during the initial holes. A birdie on the 11th hole helped him regain momentum, marking a turning point in his game. Anciano, who has previously secured back-to-back wins at Sherwood Hills and Splendido Taal, was thrilled with her victory, especially after overcoming health challenges in the first round. Her strategic play and familiarity with the course played key roles in her comeback.

Both Tambalque and Anciano have now secured spots in the highly anticipated JPGT Elite Junior Finals. They will compete against the top players from the Visayas-Mindanao leg in a North vs. South showdown, scheduled from September 30 to October 2 at The Country Club in Laguna.
