Three Fire Incidents in Antique Damage 10 Houses and Injure 2

Antique: Ten houses were damaged while two persons got injured following three fire incidents in Antique over the past two days.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) responded to two fire incidents in Barangay San Pedro and Barangay Bagumbayan in San Jose de Buenavista on Monday. Additionally, a fire occurred in the town proper of Hamtic on Easter Sunday.

The initial investigation by the BFP revealed that the fire which razed a junkshop in Barangay Bagumbayan was due to unattended cooking on Monday night. Earlier that morning, another fire caused by an electrical short circuit damaged four houses in Barangay San Pedro. Senior Fire Officer 2 Ramil Escander reported that two persons sustained first-degree burns in Barangay San Pedro.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office provided food packs to 17 individuals who are currently staying in their village hall. In Hamtic, the fire, allegedly caused by an unattended lighted candle, destroyed five houses and partially damaged one. The three incidents resulted in an estimated damage of PHP1.1 million. Escander urged vigilance against any potential fire incidents, particularly during periods of high heat index and wind gustiness.
