MANILA– A total of 2,421 Overseas Filipino Worker LET-passers have registered on the Sa ‘Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am/Sir (SPIMS), a convergent program of the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) and Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine Normal University (PNU), and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). This record is being tallied since its inception in 2014.
Based on the NRCO data, of this number, 2,115 applicants were endorsed to DepEd (with teaching experience for the last 5 years and New LET passers) and PNU (those who need to undergo refresher course) by batches.
Meanwhile, 306 are not qualified under the program and 106 will be endorsed in the second semester of the year.
To date, the NRCO has facilitated 650 OFWs to be given ‘Teacher 1 plantilla positions since the inception of the program. There are 499 OFW LET passers have assumed their positions and are now practicing their profession in their respective provinces.
For those needing to undergo refresher course (OFWs with no teaching experience or with experience but beyond five years), the NRCO has endorsed a total of 673 applicants to the PNU for the free Online Refresher Course. Based on the PNU data, a total of 130 OFWs are active in their Learning Management System (LMS) and started their respective courses.
Nine enrollees, meanwhile, have already finished the course while majority are on the process of finishing the modules based on their major/specialization.
