Shariff Aguak: Mayor Akmad Mitra Ampatuan has announced a PHP150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of two suspects involved in a highway robbery that resulted in the fatal shooting of a delivery driver in Barangay Timbangan. The mayor's offer aims to expedite the investigation of the incident that occurred on Monday, which also left two other individuals in the vehicle injured.
According to Philippines News Agency, Col. Ryan Bobby Paloma, the police provincial director of Maguindanao del Sur, confirmed that a manhunt is underway for the armed duo responsible for the death of delivery van driver Ray Balmores, from Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte. The victims were en route to Cotabato City from Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur, after delivering ice cream supplies when the robbery occurred in Timbangan village.
The attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, shot Balmores and seized a bag containing the group's cash collection. Balmores succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the freezer van's helpers, Harris Ampatuan of Shariff Aguak and Reymond Bajas of Masbate City, sustained injuries.
Mayor Ampatuan has called on law enforcement to take measures to prevent such incidents from occurring again in the municipality.
