Manila:Bangsamoro Autonomous Region The Third Party Monitoring Team (TPMT) has called for political stakeholders in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to respect the results of the region's inaugural parliamentary elections and to ensure a peaceful transition of power.

According to Philippines News Agency, over two million voters participated in the elections on September 14, marking a significant step in the region's democratic process. The elections are seen as a historic achievement resulting from the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), negotiated over 17 years between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The TPMT emphasized the importance of the elections, noting the high voter turnout as evidence of the value citizens place on their political future. The transformation of former combatants into political actors and the formation of new political parties and alliances were highlighted as significant developments.

Attention is now focused on the establishment of the new elected government, with the TPMT urging all stakeholders to respect the election results and facilitate a peaceful and inclusive political transition. The TPMT, established in 2013, monitors the implementation of peace accords, including the CAB and the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro.

Despite the positive developments, the TPMT expressed concerns about election-related violence and crimes, highlighting the importance of transforming conflict-affected areas into peaceful communities. The group stressed the need for continued cooperation between the MILF and the Central Government to fulfill the remaining obligations of the CAB and ensure the effective implementation of the peace agreement.
