Travel Fair Spurs Growth for Tour Operators in Baguio City

Baguio city: The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) has unveiled new prospects for industry stakeholders to connect with each other and engage travelers through the Regional Travel Fair (RTF), which commenced on Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Nograles emphasized Baguio City's pivotal role as a gateway to the Cordillera Administrative Region, with its renowned landscapes and timeless appeal. In a press statement, she highlighted that the event, running until May 17, offers a tailored program blending destination immersion with business development. The event is underscored by business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) sessions, facilitating connections between tour providers, operators, and potential partner service providers.

The fair also presents an opportunity for the public to discover top travel deals, sparking interest in domestic travel. Romarie Ann Sevilla, owner of Leisure Escape Travel and Tours, noted that the government initiative aids operators, particularly smaller ones, in gaining knowledge, exposure, and clientele. "I am excited because it is my first time being a new operator. This will help me a lot to improve and grow in my business," she said.

Sevilla expressed her hope to find suitable partners among the attending tour operators, service providers, accommodations, and buyers to help expand her business. She observed a growing number of travelers, especially among the youth and families, with the young generation finding online income sources that enable their travel pursuits.

Jovita Ganongan, regional director of the Department of Tourism (DOT) - Cordillera, mentioned that entry to the event is complimentary. "This is free from the TPB, which is the marketing arm of the DOT. This is an annual activity," she stated. She further noted the DOT's ongoing efforts to bolster domestic tourism, a vital contributor to the national economy.
