Manila: Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III urged the police force not to embrace regular physical exercise as an obligation, but rather as a lifestyle, to effectively perform their duties and responsibilities.
According to Philippines News Agency, Torre made this remark as the PNP resumed its regular physical conditioning program dubbed 'Pulisteniks' at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Tuesday. He emphasized the importance of integrating health and fitness into daily life, stating, "Let's make being healthy part of our lifestyle as police officers. Because when the body is healthy, the mind is clear, the heart is strong, and the actions are quick."
The Pulisteniks program is part of the PNP's broader internal wellness campaign, reinforcing the value of physical readiness as a foundation for operational excellence and responsive policing. Torre highlighted that the initiative aims to remind officers that "a healthy body is a healthy mind."
The activity was well-attended by officers and personnel from various national support units and offices of the PNP national headquarters, setting the tone for a revitalized culture of fitness and resilience in the police organization. Torre announced that every Tuesday and Thursday will be dedicated to physical conditioning activities across all PNP units.
