Manila: A low-pressure area that has developed into a tropical depression may soon enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility, as reported by the weather bureau on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated in its 5 a.m. bulletin that the tropical cyclone was positioned 2,675 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. It is currently moving north-northeastward at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA weather forecaster Veronica Torres indicated that the weather disturbance is not anticipated to make landfall or have any direct effects on any part of the country. Meanwhile, the easterlies are expected to continue causing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

Residents of Metro Manila and the rest of the country should also expect isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. The entire archipelago is likely to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
