Manila: Scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast across Mindanao and Palawan due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA), the weather bureau said on Monday. Moderate to heavy rains in the affected areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. According to Philippines News Agency, the LPA is located 1,515 km east of northeastern Mindanao, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 2 a.m., and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, PAGASA said isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies will prevail over the Bicol Region and Quezon. The rest of the country will also experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail throughout the archipelago, PAGASA said.
