Tuguegarao City: Trucks weighing more than 15 tons are not allowed to pass through the aging Buntun Bridge in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, the Department of Public Work and Highways (DPWH) announced on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the aging Buntun Bridge is already showing signs of deterioration, as manifested in the continuous appearance of openings on the deck slab, the DPWH Cagayan explained in a statement. To prevent any untoward incidents, the department has prohibited heavy trucks weighing more than 15 tons from passing over the bridge.

The DPWH-Cagayan advised motorists to take alternate routes. Vehicles weighing more than 15 tons are advised to take the Daang Maharlika route in Isabela when traveling to and from the province of Cagayan. The department has requested everyone's cooperation, emphasizing that public safety is the top priority.
