Trump Asserts US Will End Conflict with Iran ‘Very Quickly’

Washington: US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that the United States is swiftly progressing towards concluding the ongoing conflict with Iran. Trump emphasized the urgency and determination behind the efforts to reach a resolution, suggesting that Iran is eager for a deal.

According to Philippines News Agency, Trump expressed confidence in a swift resolution during remarks at the White House, saying, "We're going to end that war very quickly. They want to make a deal so badly, they're tired of this." He further added that the objective is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, aiming to achieve this "in a very nice manner."

Trump also highlighted the effectiveness of recent US military operations, crediting them with significantly diminishing Iran's military capabilities. "Our military is the greatest in the world...We wiped out their navy. Their air force is gone. Their anti-aircraft is gone. All of their material that they use for warfare is gone," he stated. While he refrained from elaborating on the status of Iranian leadership, he implied significant setbacks for Tehran.

The President reiterated the US's firm stance against Iran's development of nuclear weapons, asserting, "We won't be able to put up with that, and we're not going to put up with it."

This announcement follows a period of heightened regional tensions, initiated by US and Israeli strikes on Iran in February. In response, Iran targeted Israel and US allies in the Gulf and closed the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Although a ceasefire was brokered on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, subsequent talks in Islamabad failed to yield a lasting agreement. However, Trump has since extended the truce indefinitely.
