Manila: Two Americans who were reportedly killed in a recent clash between government forces and suspected New People's Army rebels in Toboso, Negros Occidental had arrived in the Philippines earlier this year, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
According to Philippines News Agency, BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval confirmed the arrival of American nationals Lyle Prijoles and Kai Dana-Rene Sorem in the country but withheld details regarding their travel history. "We cannot disclose at this point," Sandoval stated during an interview, emphasizing that both individuals arrived separately.
Prijoles was identified as an active member of Anakbayan USA since 2012, while the Philippine Army described Sorem as a founding member of the group. The two Americans were among 19 individuals who lost their lives in the April 19 encounter.
