Itbayat:Typhoon Queenie, known internationally as Surigae, slightly intensified early Sunday, accelerating in a north-northeastward direction. The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to bring rainfall over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

According to the Philippines News Agency, PAGASA's 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin located Queenie's eye approximately 685 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, based on data from 4 a.m. Queenie was observed to have maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 160 kph and a central pressure of 975 hPa. The typhoon was moving at a speed of 15 kph, with strong to storm-force winds extending 300 kilometers from the center.

Currently, no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) has been issued for any part of the country. However, the ITCZ continues to affect parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. This weather system is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over regions such as Northern Mindanao, Caraga, the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.

PAGASA warns that these areas may experience moderate to heavy rains that could potentially lead to flash floods and landslides. Additionally, Palawan and other parts of the Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will also see similar weather conditions due to localized thunderstorms.

The weather bureau noted that winds over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon will be light to moderate, coming from the southwest to west, with coastal waters expected to be slight to moderate, featuring wave heights of 0.6 to 1.8 meters. The rest of the country will experience similar wind and coastal conditions.
