Manila: The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) have launched the UN80 Commemorative Stamps to mark the Philippines' 80th year in the United Nations (UN).
According to Philippines News Agency, the PHLPost noted that the stamps honor the country's founding role in the UN and its ongoing commitment to peace, multilateralism, and development.
The stamp set was made available to the public on Thursday. It features a se-tenant design for PHP16 and an Official First Day Cover for PHP18. The PHLPost highlighted the issuance of the stamps as a way to preserve national heritage and promote international awareness through philately or stamp collecting.
With the theme 'The Philippines' 80 Years in the United Nations: A Journey of Hope and Endeavor," the launch event was held at the Old Senate Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila. Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and UN Resident Coordinator Arnaud Peral reflected on the Philippines' legacy in the UN at the launch.
The event also featured the stamp designer, Marthy Angue, who described the artwork as a tribute to shared global aspirations.
