UP Law Batch 2000 Raises PHP2.2 Million for UP Law Complex Non-Academic Staff

Quezon city: Members of the University of the Philippines (UP) Law batch 2000 have successfully raised PHP2.2 million for the Y2K Damayan Fund, a financial assistance initiative aimed at supporting the non-academic staff of the UP Law Complex.

According to Philippines News Agency, UP Law 2000, Inc. president Dan Calica expressed the group's commitment to aiding the non-academic personnel who played a crucial role in supporting them during their law school years. Calica communicated through a Viber message, emphasizing the importance of the Y2K Damayan Fund in providing necessary financial assistance to these employees.

A symbolic turnover ceremony took place at the Learning Commons of the Law library at UP Diliman, Quezon City. The event underscored the batch's continued efforts to gather donations for the fund, highlighting their ongoing fund-raising activities.

The batch's Y2K Damayan Fund is a continuation of the Damayan Fund initiated by Batch 1999. Initially, the goal was to collect PHP1 million, but the efforts exceeded expectations, raising a significant amount beyond the target. The fund allows employees and their families to receive financial aid ranging from PHP5,000 to PHP15,000 for emergencies, serious illnesses, and injuries. Applications can be submitted with the necessary documentation to the Human Resources Development and Records Section of the UP Law Complex.

This initiative is part of the group's projects to commemorate their Silver Jubilee celebration and to acknowledge the steadfast support provided by the non-academic staff to the aspiring lawyers.
