Manila: American forces have completed a 'heavy wave' of strikes against Iran in retaliation for attempted missile attacks targeting US forces in the Middle East, as announced late Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, CENTCOM reported that at 10 p.m. ET on July 29, US Central Command forces concluded these strikes, which targeted numerous Iranian sites. The targets included military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense sites, and maritime capabilities associated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

This military action was prompted by what CENTCOM described as an attempted surprise attack by IRGC forces on July 28, involving the launch of multiple ballistic missiles aimed at US forces stationed in the Middle East. CENTCOM confirmed that all Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted.

The US military emphasized that more than 50,000 American service members are currently stationed across the Middle East, maintaining a high level of vigilance and readiness.

In contrast, Iranian media reported that a residential area on Iran's Qeshm Island was affected during the US missile strikes across southern Iran. The Tasnim News Agency noted loud explosions in Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province, with the attack allegedly causing power outages in parts of the city.

Additionally, on Wednesday, Jordan reported intercepting five Iranian missiles. Meanwhile, Iran's IRGC claimed responsibility for targeting a US air base in Jordan.
