USA Faces Lithuania in Nuvali Challenge Women’s Final

Caraga: Team USA's Alaina Chacon and Madelyn Anderson defeated Ukraine's Valentyna Davidova and Anhelina Khmil, 21-18, 21-19, to reach the women's final of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Nuvali Challenge Sunday in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Americans will face Lithuanian Olympians Monika Paulikiene and Aine Raupelyte, who scored a 21-18, 21-15 victory over Dutch pair Emi van Driel and Mila Konink. 'We know it's gonna be a tough game. We're gonna go out there, scout things we need to do to prepare and the game's going to be tough. We're confident, we know it's going to be tough but we're gonna be ready for it,' Chacon, who finished with 23 points against Ukraine, said.

The Americans are eyeing their first title as a pair after winning multiple Futures titles with different partners last season, while the Lithuanians are seeking their first Beach Pro Tour title after missing the podium at Tlaxcala Challenge and Xiamen Challenge earlier this year. 'We played against them two times, I think this year. One we won, one we lost. So, it will be an even fight. Like always, we'll just concentrate and do as less mistakes as possible and have a good fighting spirit,' Raupelyte, who scored 22 points against their Dutch rivals, said.

Meanwhile, Australia and Switzerland will clash for the men's title in the event organized by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). Australians Thomas Hodges and Ben Hood outlasted Swiss tandem Julian Friedli and Jonathan Jordan, 21-18, 12-21, 15-7, while Swiss duo Adrian Heidrich and Yves Haussener prevailed over Germans Philipp Huster and Sven Winter, 21-19, 23-21, in the semifinal round. Hodges and Hood, and Heidrich and Haussener are making their first final appearances as partners.
