Bfp antique implements bicycle-based fire prevention campaign amidst rising fuel prices:ased Fire Prevention Campaign Amidst Rising Fuel Prices Antique: Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Antique personnel have resorted to using bicycles in their fire prevention campaign as a response to rising fuel costs. According to Philippines News Agency, Fire Officer 2 Eulie May Raymaro, BFP Antique's acting fire safety enforcement officer and public information officer, stated in an interview that the 'Bumbyahero: A fuel-less Paalala' campaign has been underway since Holy Week. This initiative is part of the department's cost-saving measures, utilizing bicycles instead of firetrucks for community outreach and distribution of fire safety tips. Raymaro emphasized that firetrucks are reserved exclusively for emergency response and rescue operations. The campaign's urgency is underscored by the intense summer heat, which has heightened the need for fire prevention efforts. BFP Antique has responded to 46 fire incidents so far this year, with three occurring in the first week of April alone. These incidents included two structural fires involving a house and a storage facility, as well as a grass fire. In 2025, the department responded to a total of 116 fire incidents. Raymaro urged the public to practice safety measures such as switching off electric fans and appliances before leaving home to prevent overheating. She also advised against burning bushes or discarding lit cigarettes, which could spark grass fires. Additionally, she warned against leaving cooking unattended, which is a common cause of kitchen fires, and recommended that adults ensure children do not play with matches or lighters.
