Quezon City: Petro Gazz star Brooke Van Sickle was named Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) for her outstanding performance throughout the season. The 27-year-old outside hitter will receive the highest individual honor during the inaugural Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City on May 28.
According to Philippines News Agency, Van Sickle led the Angels to the 2024-2025 All-Filipino Conference (AFC) title, ending Creamline's reign. She had a weighted score of 227.6 points, calculated from 50 percent statistics, 30 percent media votes, and 20 percent team votes. Van Sickle garnered 116.3 statistical points, 66.3 media votes, and 45 points from coaches and team captains to beat Creamline's Bernadeth Pons and Michele Gumabao.
Pons, the Reinforced Conference MVP, tallied 205.6 points, built on 122.8 statistical points, 50.4 from the media, and 32.4 from coaches and team captains. Invitationals MVP Gumabao, on the other hand, ranked third with 151.4 points, drawn from 92.5 statistical points, 35.1 media votes, and 23.8 team votes.
Van Sickle earned the Best Outside Hitter honors in the Reinforced Conference as well as in the AFC where she bagged her second straight MVP award. In claiming the AFC MVP, she placed third in scoring with 349 points, built on 296 attacks, 30 kill blocks, and a league-leading 23 aces. She led the league in service winners with an average of 0.38 aces per set, ranked second in spiking with a 36.86 percent success rate, and was third in receiving with a 35.37 percent efficiency and sixth in digging with 2.89 digs per set.
